The reality is that every person is unique, and each client that comes to therapy has individual needs which will impact how you experience your first session. What we can say however is that, just with any new relationship, your therapist will have questions about you to get to know you as a whole person. The first several sessions will be geared toward creating a safe space where you can feel heard as you begin to build a sense of trust and rapport with your therapist.

If a therapist’s bio really connected with you, but you don’t see any listed openings for a consultation, please contact us using the form below. You will be added to the therapist’s waitlist, and when an availability opens up the therapist will reach out to you. If you find that you would rather start treatment sooner, you can book a consultation with another available provider, or reach out for potential referrals. We have a lot of colleagues in other practices who could be a good fit for your needs!

Finding a good fit for your needs, and someone whom you feel understood and supported by are the most important ingredients to building a healthy and strong foundation with your therapist. If you find that you’re not feeling a connection with your provider, it could be beneficial to bring up your concern to them— your therapist could help you find someone who would be a better fit for you, or it could bring an important conversation into the therapeutic space. Either way, we try to encourage a safe space where you can show up as you are.
